Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Chambers

In combined sewer areas (storm & foul) there will occasionally be the problem of excessive flow. Unless diverted this will cause overloading of the treatment works.

The CSO reduces the hydraulic loading on the treatment plant by diverting dilute excess flow to appropriate alternative drains.
